Petr Mrzena

Petr Mrzena, appointed Director of the News and Current Affairs Division in 2023, has many years of experience in television news. His career has been marked by holding key positions at several leading media organizations.

From 2011 to 2023, he served as Editor-in-Chief of News at Czech Television (ČT) and later became Executive Director of ČT24. In this role, he played a key role in the development and modernization of news broadcasting. Between 2010 and 2011, he worked as a correspondent in Brussels for Z1 television. From 2006 to 2010, he was the editor-in-chief of news at TV Nova. He also worked from 2004 to 2006 as a news editor and anchor at Czech Television and from 1996 to 2004 as a news editor at TV Prima.

Petr Mrzena graduated in 2008 from the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno with a degree in media studies and journalism. Earlier, in 2000, he completed his studies in journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague.

As Director of the News and Current Affairs Division, he is responsible for the strategic management and development of news and current affairs programming, which includes innovating broadcast formats and ensuring high-quality content.
