Protest against occupation of Czechoslovakia - he wrote on a piece of paper that he laid in front of him. He had already poured petrol over his body and then lit a match. In the centre of Riga, he tried to repeat the act of Jan Palach. He survived and later was sent to a psychiatric hospital. There he was able to solve one of mathematics' significant problems, nowadays he is a professor of mathematics at Hebrew university in Jerusalem, profesor Eliyahu Rips.
