He defected from physics to biology and eventually ended up with Nobel Prize in chemistry. He received the Prize in 2009 for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome, the factory in our cells that makes proteins, the workers of our body - Venkatraman Ramakrishnan. Chairman of the British Royal Society, a position that was previously held for example by Isaac Newton.
