How to tune in to Czech Television programs from Czech Republic

Czech Television programs (ČT1, ČT2, ČT24, ČT sport, ČT :D/art, ČT1 JM, ČT1 SM, ČT1 JZC and ČT1 SVC) along with additional services can be received in various ways. This is the result of searching for possible ways to get the programs to the viewer in the greatest possible scope and quality under current technical and economic conditions on the telecommunications market. So how do you tune in to ČT programs? First, choose the method of receiving the television signal. You have terrestrial, satellite or Internet broadcasting available.

DVB-T2 terrestrial broadcasting

To receive a terrestrial digital broadcast signal ( DVB-T2/HEVC ), you must have the appropriate device, i.e. a TV or set-top box, that allows the reception of this signal. Usually, if you have a label on your set-top box or TV with the DVB-T2/HEVC designation , then you should be able to receive broadcasts in this standard. If you want to use the HbbTV service, check with the seller that it is supported by the device.

Most new TVs should meet this requirement, and in that case, you just need to tune the TV. For some devices, tuning will be done automatically.

It can be useful when manually tuning receivers table of broadcast channel frequencies.

If you have an older TV that does not meet the previous conditions, you must purchase the appropriate set-top box.

DVB-S2 satellite broadcasting

The decoding card is available to all TV fee payers with permanent residence in the territory of our republic, e.g. through satellite equipment sellers.

Depending on the type of receiver, you need either a separate decoding card or a card with a conditional access module CAM (if the receiver is not equipped with one). You will also receive instructions on how to activate it with the card. The decoding card is activated for 10 days after it is first inserted into the receiver. During this time, you need to complete all the necessary formalities regarding the card (registration with its provider).

Irdeto decoding cards are currently available for purchase.

For free reception of all Czech Television programs, use CT card, Skylink cards are designed for a wider program offering.

Information about the technical parameters of CT programs is provided here.
