General Information
Czech Television was established on 1 January 1992. Its statutory body is the Director General appointed by the Czech Television Council for a six-year term. The supervisory body is the Czech Television Council. Organizationally, Czech Television is divided into parts in Prague, Brno and Ostrava.

Public service television is established by the Act on Czech Television, which defines its statute, specifies the choice of the statutory body, supervisory mechanisms, and its financing.

Economy independent of the state
Czech Television is an independent entity independent of the state budget; the state is not responsible for the obligations of Czech Television and Czech Television is not responsible for the obligations of the state.

Financing
Czech Television's main source of funding is television fees. It also engages in legally defined business activities (advertising, sponsorship, etc.), which serve as an additional source of income.
