Annual gala concerts take place in České Budějovice in honor of the world-renowned Czech singer Emma Destinnová (1878–1930) who was one of the greatest opera singers of all time. This music festival has become a celebrated tradition, with leading world soloists coming to Destinnová’s home district in Bohemia to guest-perform: In 1991 Sheril Milnes and Eva Jenisová, In 1992 Eva Randová and Guiseppe Sabbatini, in 1993 Miriam Gaucci and Nicolo Martinucci, in 1994 Francisco Araiza, in 1995 Kristian Johannson and Lubica Rybarská, in 1996 Lucia Aliberti and Dalibor Jenis.
