This is a recording of the three-act comic opera with libretto by Eliška Krásnohorská made at the international opera festival Smetana’s Litomyšl held in the courtyard of Litomyšl Castle. Since the time of its origin (the premiere was held on 18th September 1878 at the New Czech Theatre in Prague), The Secret is considered Smetana’s most perfect and most mature opera.
