Catalogue of Czech Television Programmes
In August 2009, fifty years had passed since the death of the great Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů. A team of artists prepared a magnificent dance show in honour of this anniversary. The film director was especially interest in its socially educational aspect. The dancers were children aged 8 – 18 chosen at schools in “problem” quarters. The project Špalíček to music by Bohuslav Martinů was based on the incentive of the successful artistic project of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The aim of the Czech project was the participation of children and young people into the process who had as yet had no experience nor any special dispositions for dance or other forms of artistic expression and came from different social and national groups, in combination with children talented for dancing.
