This narrative story is a new rendering of the folk tale about the Goldilocks. The Island Kingdom is ruled by a king who has 12 daughters, and has promised the youngest one, gold-haired Joy for wife to a captain of pirates. In another kingdom rules a cruel king who has eaten a serpent´s skin and become able to understand the language of animals. By mistake a piece of the skin is eaten also by his servant George, and the king punishes him by sending him away to look for the Goldilocks. George sets out into the wide world and on the way confronts the pirate captain in a fight for the princess. In the end he wins, with the help of the princess herself, and brings Joy with him to the kingdom of his home. Its cruel ruler wants to get rid of him, but because he´s so cruel, his mates and comrades gradually join George´s side, and the king, blind with hatred, brings ruin upon himself. And the new King George marries the Goldilocks.
