The story of a boy and his surprising real-life friendship with the virtual heroine of his favourite computer game. Charlie is nine and he is spending his summer holidays with his father at their country cottage. Charlie’s mother died a few years ago and he still misses her sorely. His dad wants him to enjoy life in the outdoors with him, but the boy would best like to spend all his days at the computer, playing games full of shooting and explosions. During one of their scuffles over the notebook, Charlie inadvertently presses some combination of keys and the beautiful but tough fighter heroine Killary enters the world of humans. Charlie thinks he has at last found the right mother for himself and partner for his father. But Charlie and Killary gradually comprehend that the human world is much more complicated than the virtual world, and that love and friendship cannot be won with weapons.
