Eight men advanced in years, friends of long standing, meet at a picnic. Each is accompanied by a family member – wife or grownup child with grandchildren. It is obvious at first sight that while their physical condition leaves much to be desired, what they do not miss is indomitable mind and sense of humour. The picnic is far from ordinary, though it is taking place on an ordinary meadow. Gradually it appears that nearby are remnants of a communist labour camp where the old men of today spent years normally regarded as the best in one´s life. It was then and there where the bonds of their friendship were forged. Nobody would expect that a crack could ever form in it – but it does. After the archives of the communist secret police were opened to the public, they learned that one of them informed on the others during their imprisonment in the camp. And the purpose of the two-day picnic is to “ring down the curtain” on the suspicion and find out who was the informer. But even when the thirteenth chamber is opened and the informer is exposed, nothing can ever change about their friendship.
