The second part of the triptych Prowlers and Protectors. The story of Cruel Infidelity starts happily: Peter and Jane Roubals have been married for two years, and are expecting their first child. But then, one day, Jana finds an envelope in her mail, containing compromising photographs which show her husband having sexual intercourse with the attractive Markéta Tichá. Printouts of the pair´s amorous email and SMS correspondence are enclosed to support the evidence. Jane breaks down. Peter owns up to his love affair, confiding in Jane how he got to know Markéta through browsing on the internet, met with her out of curiosity and succumbed to her advances – thus becoming yet another victim of a gang who amuse themselves by seeing others unhappy. This is when the nurse Věra Podlipná and the mysterious doctor Zahálka appear on the scene, and persuade Jane to fight the “prowlers”.
