The dramatic story of love, passion and devotion was inspired by several motifs from the novel “Dumala” by Eduard von Kevserling (1855-1918); work on this original material once again brought together scriptwriter Vladimir Körner and film director Milan Cieslar ( Bonds of Blood, The Spring of Life). This time they present viewers with a period drama unraveling from around the year 1905 and ending with the outbreak of the First World War. A couple of newlyweds arrive at a large country estate. The enamoured officer and owner of the large farmstead, Albert “the Loner”, is bringing his strong and beautiful wife Karol to this romantic spot amidst deep forests, where they have a good chance to live an idyllic life. But one unfortunate accident followed by the unexpected arrival of Albert’s friend Rastya are enough to bring a fatal change into their peaceful life… A Snowy Night offers some excellently chosen exterior locations, effective photography, beautiful costumes and telling music.
