Catalogue of Czech Television Programmes
This sympathetically ironic film comedy based on a story by Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal takes place in the summer of 1947, just before the Communist takeover. Three charming and witty men represent Old-Age Support, a fictitious insurance company feeding off the fears of small businessmen, and their concerns about the forthcoming social changes in Czechoslovakia. The money collected for the insurance policies, however, vanishes in their pursuit of pleasure. The three enjoy themselves at their clients' expense, but eventually they, in turn, are cheated by the 'Angelic Eyes' of someone still smarter.
