GOLEM

Golem

Golem – the dance theatre performance from the workshop of the outstanding Czech choreographer Pavel Šmok with music composed by Zbyněk Matějů brings alive the old Prague legend about the man of clay created by Rabbi LöwI. This magic figure, called the Golem, was to have protected Prague’s Jewish community from the frequent pogroms of the times. The ballet offers a very simple and human solution to this legend, working with equally simple means, highlighting the imaginative, expressive yet totally modern music, the excellent choreography with its drama and comedy elements – as well as the actual story of the adapted legend. Moreover, the widest scope for creativity is given to the Prague Chamber Ballet and its soloists.
