Jean-Pierre Sauvage, Nobel prize in chemistry laureate

He took the first step towards creating a molecular machine - Jean-Pierre Sauvage, laureate of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. His study of photosynthesis opened up a new direction that eventually led to the development of nanocars. These would one day deliver drugs within our body, though he focuses on fundamental research. How did he start bonding molecules? Why is it so difficult to make artificial photosynthesis work and how was his life influenced by his teachers?
