National selection ESCZ 2019 rules

31. 10. 2018 is the deadline for all the musicians, music producers, bands and others to register their songs for national selection ESCZ 2019. The best among them will get the chance to compete in the beginning of 2019 for votes from fans and internetional jury. The winner of the National selection, the one who recieves the highest amount of votes from both international jury, czech audience, and newly also from international fans will be representing the Czech Republic in Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in front of more than a quarter of a billion viewers from around the world.

National selection rules and voting (the exact dates will be specified before the end of 2018):

  • In the beginning of January 2019, both music videos and songs will be presented on press conference
  • Middle of January 2019 is voting period for both fans and international jurors (czech votes are valid as audience votes, but this time all international fans votes will be counted together as one additional juror)
  • At the end of january 2019 the winner of the Czech national selection will be announced

Jury votes for the the scenario with 6 competitors (the exact number of competitors will be announced before the end of 2018):

  • 1. place – 8 points
  • 2. place – 6 points
  • 3. place – 4 points
  • 4. place – 3 points
  • 5. place – 2 points
  • 6. place – 1 point

International Jury voting counts will be released at the end of January 2019. Overall jury ranking of finalists is determined after counting up all the jurors votes. This year we introduce one new feature – all the international fans votes will be counted as one additional juror.

Audience votes for the the scenario with 6 competitors (the exact number of competitors will be announced before the end of 2018):

  • 1. place – 8 points
  • 2. place – 6 points
  • 3. place – 4 points
  • 4. place – 3 points
  • 5. place – 2 points
  • 6. place – 1 point

Everybody can vote only via official Eurovision song contest app. Voting is free of charge. Only czech votes will count as audience votes, but all international fans votes will count as one additional juror though.

Everyone is allowed to vote only once.

Final rankings:

Final rankings are the outcome of counting up all votes from both audience and jurors. (for example if a finlist recieves 1. place from both jurors and audience he/she has 16 points). In the case where there will be tie between two finalists, then audience votes are decisive factor. The song with highest score will represent Czech republic at Eurovision Song Contest event in Tel Aviv, Israel.
