About the Festival

"The World of Music and Dance is within your reach"

Today the ITF Golden Prague is a unique and prestigious showcase of TV production, presenting the world's best music and dance programmes of all musical genres. It has become a place of inspiring meetings for programme-makers, producers, experts and the general public, a place where you can discover, compare and see in competition the best of what has been produced in the field of music and dance programmes. The festival is open to high-quality programmes of all musical genres, i.e. not only classical music, but also rock, pop and world music.

The 47th ITF Golden Prague comes again with a number of novelties. The key one is the change of the date to October. This change has been a result of deeper cooperation of the festival with the EBU /European Broadcasting Union/ as well as the IMZ /International Music and Media Centre/ with regards to unusual number of evens in spring /for example the EBU Summit, Eurovision Young Musicians Competition/ that are organised by or involved in such events. But also with regards to the media and festival world change. At once the EBU and the IMZ have expressively declared their will to support more deeply the festival Golden Prague and to cooperate with the festival much more.

This cooperation will concretely display in the whole festival programme and its accompanying events. There will be prestigious Gala premieres shifted from showcase at MIDEM in Cannes to the festival in Prague. Three extraordinary Gala evenings called Golden Prague Premieres will be held in Prague. It will be a screening of remarkable premieres recently finished programmes of prestigious creators who will be personally present. You will find information and entry forms to the Golden Prague Premieres a the IMZ website www.imz.at.

Both the IMZ and EBU will prepare a number of worskhops, discussions and meetings for the 47th ITF Golden Prague. But also in the accompanying programmes that is dedicated to professional as well as wide audience a number of novelties have been prepared with the emphasis on:

  • getting to know music cultures of selected countries of the world,
  • for wide familiarization with current superior productions in modern dance area
  • music production for children and youth.

Within the cycle “TV Stations present“ productions of TV Cultura Brazil, TV Kultura Poland, Armenian television will be introduced. Within the cycle “Tribute to“ a director Hans Hulscher, a choreographer Mats Ek will be personally welcomed. We will remind the work of a choreographer M. Cunningham in the programme “In Memory of…“. It is a great honour for us that Mr. Jiří Kylián has taken over a patronage over the dance part of the accompanyning festival programme. The whole festival will be again open for free for all person interested in high-quality music and dance programmes and films on TV screen. Except the introduced accompanying programmes the festival participants will again have the chance to view all competition programmes submitted in the 47th ITF Golden Prague in the festival videolibrary.
