David Novotný

He graduated in acting from the Prague Conservatory. During his years at the South Bohemian Theater in Budweis he played many major roles. Since 1998, he acts on the stage of the Prague theater Dejvické divadlo, appearing in such plays as Karamazov Brothers, Oblomov, Three Sisters, The Magic Flute, Theremin and Black Hole. He made his first appearance on the silver screen in 1986, but his first major part did not come until Jan Svěrák’s Dark Blue World (2000). He also acted in Karel Kachyňa’s TV films Leather Sun and The Journey Was Dry, Sometimes Wet (2002). He also played the main character in Jakub Sluka’s film Non plus ultras (2004), as well as appearing in Liar's Rules (directed by Robert Sedláček, 2006). His most recent roles have been in Vladimír Michálek’s film Of parents and children (2007) and Petr Zelenka's The Karamazovs (2008).
